Scottish Springtime

Here is a small selection of the finished shots from that very cold day back in March, including the one I have made the new main image on my website. It amazes me how Rachel doesn't even look 'that' cold! I can assure you, it was freezing.

Below is a great little video from behind the scenes on the shoot for singer - songwriter Iman that I worked on with my good friend Elliott and with Lauren Andrew on styling.

Iman loved the wearefaux 'shantha' lashes that I used on this shoot.

There's another video here which is great if you wanna learn a little bit more about Iman. Such a talented girl. I'm sure we'll be hearing lots more from her soon.

Scottish Springtime

This behind the scenes shot pretty much sums up the test shoot I did with Anette Schive in Edinburgh last week! Our super brave model was the amazing Rachel @ Model Team. There was a foot of snow on the ground just outside Edinburgh and the temperature was -1°c but with a very cold wind making it feel more like -5°c.

Magazine Subscription Giveaway

I'm sure many of you that read my blog have a similar unhealthy obsession as I do, with buying magazines... it comes with the creative territory. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!) I love flicking through magazines for inspiration, but I often find them stashed by the side of the couch or under my bed barely read! I am very bad at throwing them out when I'm done and all over
my home there are various stacks of magazines that I just can't part with. I wish they looked artful, like the photo below, but in reality they just highlight my hoarding tendencies and also the lack of storage space in my flat!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Zinio about offering a subscription giveaway on my blog.

Zinio is a service which offers thousands of top magazines from around the world in digital format. You can browse and purchase subscriptions or single issues instantly from your computer or mobile device wherever and whenever you like. You can use it on your iPad, iPhone, Android mobile phones and tablet, kindle fire, laptops and desktop computer!

The lovely people at Zinio hooked me up with a free subscription to any magazine of my choice from their virtual newsstand to try out. I had a hard time deciding what to go for, with such a huge selection to choose from including Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar and Elle, British and International editions to name just a few. It's not all glossy fashion mags though, I'm eyeing up National Geographic and Sky at Night as well.

I finally settled on British Vogue.

The sign up process was really straight forward. I was pleasantly surprised to find I did not have to enter any credit/debit card details in order to retrieve my free subscription. I half expected to be tied into a annual automatic renewal type affair, but this was not the case. Just my name, email address and a password.

Once I was registered the current issue of British Vogue was there in my Digital Library waiting for me. It reads very well on my MacBook and looks awesome on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Both the desktop and mobile apps are very easy to navigate through, you can flick from one page to the next as well as skim through thumbnails of every page to jump to a specific article or spread. I love that you can zoom in on the pages to get a closer look too. This is going to be so handy for when I'm travelling with work, in my head I'm justifying the purchase of an iPad as we speak!

From what I can see Zinio always have a little selection of offers on the go and the odd flash-sale as well. Currently they are offering 2 years subscription for the price of 1 on selected magazines - there's some great ones there if you're into Photography or a travel and outdoorsy type. Click the banner below to see what's on offer.

Because of my positive experience in signing up and using the Zinio service - I am delighted to offer up for grabs a free subscription to any magazine of your choice, from Zinio's selection, for 9 lucky readers of my blog. All you need to do is use the Rafflecopter widget below to follow my blog and leave a comment below telling me why you'd like to win a free subscription from Zinio. I'd love it if you'd go like my facebook page and Zinio's too, but its not compulsory!

The giveaway will begin at 12am on Thur 21st March and run until 12am on Thur 28th March (GMT) after which the 9 winners will be chosen at random and notified within 48 hours of their win.

All a-flutter

I've got some recent work to upload where I've used false lashes from We Are Faux. I am in love with their lashes at the moment.

We Are Faux launched in 2011, the brain-child of MakeUp Artist Ana Cruzalegui. Ana wanted to create a range of false lashes that were inspired by fashion, beauty and art trends with seasonal collections and creative collaborations. Daring and seductive with a touch of backstage glamour. For minimal to maximal, fierce to feminine, there is something for everyone and every occasion.

Previous collaborations have included British electro band Ladytron and designer Rebecca Torres.

Good Girl

We Are Faux lashes are available from selected Urban Outfitters and Superdrug stores and La La Land Glasgow but if you buy direct from the We Are Faux website you get free shipping within the UK - even better!

Behind The Scenes - Jane Davidson SS2013

So today was the rescheduled SS2013 shoot for Edinburgh fashion boutique Jane Davidson. Unfortunately despite their being no snow, as was the case last monday, we did spend the whole day battling sleet and rain around Edinburgh's new town.

This one says it all really!

Thankfully we had a great team with Marsaili Mainz on photography and Anna Freemantle modelling. Anna was the utmost professional - I can't even begin to imagine how cold she must have been wandering around Edinburgh in flimsy summer dresses and bare legs in 0°c and icey rain!

Anyway, now that I have thawed out a little, here are a few behind the scenes shots.

Jane Davidson Boutique

Now I like a bit of snow - probably actually a little bit more than the next person - so normally I'd be delighted to be greeted by this in the beautiful city of Edinburgh...

However, I was meant to be shooting for Jane Davidson boutique yesterday... Needless to say a location shoot around Edinburgh's new town area featuring lots of beautiful spring/summer clothes and accessories was completely out of the question!

After a quick meeting we were fortunately able to reschedule the shoot for next week instead. I'm looking forward to working with everyone involved, and will post lots of lovely behind the scenes shots for you as well.
